Radøy Fishing Trip

10 - 11. May 2025

A Legendary Tale of (Almost) No Fish

We set off to Radøy on Saturday, May 10th, full of hope, hammocks, and high expectations. The sun was out, spirits were high, and our plan was simple: catch fish, eat fish, brag about fish.

Only one problem: the fish didn't get the memo.

Despite deploying boats, nets, a few crabtraps and a small army of fishermen, we managed to catch a grand total of… a few pollocks and one lonely cod who probably felt sorry for us. A small sailing boat provided just enough excitement for people to forget they were starving. At the end, we had the to invest in some emergency sausages to avoid complete protein collapse. Lukas saved the culinary experience of the trip with his signature fish-on-bread creation, topped with mayo. We wrapped it all up with a beautiful bonfire night, complete with snacks, drinks, and some storytelling.

We slept in Emmas boathouse where we could hang our hammocs to the sound of the sea. Sunday morning a giant portion of pancake mixture was brewed, lifting spirits before yet another failed fishing attempt. There was also swimming and let’s not forget the not-so-subtle fishing rivalry brewing among the trip leaders, who apparently thought they were in Deadliest Catch: Radøy Edition. Neither one managed to hook a single fish.

In the end, it wasn’t really about the fish, it was about the vibes. Or so we told ourselves.
